On the Internet since 1995, the NewGrip has make a name for itself as a truly elite innovative workout glove.

TRUE STORY:
Once upon a time in Munich, Germany, Astrid Hofmann came home from her workout complaining, “I can’t take it any more. My ring got scratched. My hands hurt. These gloves don’t fit. They bunch up. They leave my hands hot, sweaty and stinky. Enough. Someone has to invent something better than a leather glove!”

Hundreds of prototypes later, her husband, Norbert, unveiled the first NewGrip. And they worked. By 1997 he received both European and American patents.

After successfully selling Grips in Germany they looked for someone to market test them in the U.S.A.

Since I had lived in Munich many years, a mutual friend told me of the opportunity. I accepted the challenge.

Several months later NewGrips launched its website and 15 key fitness publications told the fitness world that NewGrips had been created.

Orders poured in.

Then came the bad news.

Men started complaining that the hand pad material was getting all chewed up by the sharp edges on American weight bars. This was not happening in Europe because the bars are smoother. Ouch. This was painful. Should we quit?

No. The concept was far to revolutionary. Instead, I started researching better materials. Eight months later the perfect material arrived. It was tougher, more durable, and more flexible. We were in business again.

The current NewGrip is our sixth generation upgrade. The hand pads now out last conventional leather gloves 2-4 times!)

This encouraged me to let my mailing list know and many started using them with rowing and even more testimonials arrived, so about 2 years ago the web page was built and improved upon ever since.

At about the same time drummers and guitar players started telling me that the wrist straps were eliminating their carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, wrist ache and tennis elbow… which led to even more web pages being added.

Now, those same straps are used by piano players, golfers, typists, workers, cyclists, and athletes.

Our super 100% woven cotton is made in a mill on the East Coast. Our neoprene comes from California, our sewing is done in Washington State and our hand pads are made in Portland, Oregon.
